This kit includes the Thermal Grizzly AM5 Lapping Tool and Kryonaut Thermal Paste, 1g.

The AM5 Lapping Tool is designed to grind the heat spreaders of AMD's AM5 processor series. The tolerances of the AM5 lapping tool allow the heatspreader to be ground down step by step by 0.4 millimeters, up to a total height of 1.6 millimeters. When using the standard AMD mounting frame (SAM), a maximum grind of 1.0 mm is allowed until the middle steps are reached. A further 0.6 mm is only possible if the CPU is mounted with a suitable AM5 contact frame, for example (product will follow shortly).

Even with a moderate overclocking of all cores of the Ryzen 9 7950X to 5.4 GHz, the test system remained 4 degrees Celsius below the temperature limit of 95 degrees C.

It should be noted that grinding the CPU will void the warranty. For the largest possible contact area between the IHS and the base plate of the CPU cooler, the latter should also be sanded.
